The 2011 See How It’s Made poster |
The Newfoundland & Labrador government has been doing this See How It’s Made campaign for a while now, and I think it’s a fantastic idea. They are helping artists and craftspeople like me promote their craft and to get their audience more involved.
I always love having people drop by for a visit while I’m in the middle of making a new print- most people don’t know how a print is made, and visitors always go away with a far greater appreciation for the amount of hand-crafting that goes into the process. Check out their website, and look for a printed brochure that will give you a schedule of craft demonstrations this summer in studios and shops around the province.
I think the province and the Craft Council of NL should get together and combine efforts to make one great studio tour guide. See How It’s Made + Studio Guide = One amazing and affordable promotion of this province’s great craftsmen!
Oh, and the iceberg count? zilch.
Nice post Janet.
