Throw Back Thursday: Squid

Many moons ago, I was gifted a squid to use as a drawing model for a lino-cut print that I was wanting to make. Fred, my son who was just a wee lad at the time, was fascinated with the specimen. We looked at the colours and features of the little body- a beak, tentacles, and iridescent colouring… all interesting stuff! Of course, we didn’t keep the squid for very long, as the smell of a dead squid isn’t exactly welcoming. A few days later, Fred was once again hanging out with me at the studio. He gave a big sigh and said, “I sure do miss that squid”. Every time I think of squid, I think of that remark and giggle.
