Let me introduce myself: I'm Janet Davis, an artist and entrepreneur living and working on the North side of Bonavista Bay, on the island of Newfoundland in Eastern Canada. There are many challenges to running a business here in my small rural hometown, and there are many wonderful benefits too. This blog is where I share some of those challenges and triumphs, and share what it's like to live in this part of the world.
These rope pieces are available in store only- product varies so much that they aren’t suited to the online shop set-up! But if you want something you see in a picture, just give me a call and we can figure something out! Duke has quite a bit of stock built up over the winter months- and some rare beauties with ropes that are hard to come by on our shorelines.
I’m packaging up an order for Johnny Ruth, a favourite shop in downtown St. John’s. If you ever get the chance to visit, they have tons of great fashion pieces, but also a really wonderful giftware section that includes lots of top notch Newfoundland makers.
One of my favourite questions from customers is this: “did this used to be an old shop?” And of course, my answer is always that it is still an old shop- getting older every day! But there are new products in these 132 year old shelves. I’m sure that Kean’s General Store sold plenty of caps, greeting cards, and soap too!

I'd love for you to help spread the word about what's happening at Norton's Cove:
I am an artist and entrepreneur from a little town on the northeastern coast of Newfoundland, Canada.
I am proud of my heritage of hardworking people and I believe that we deserve good food, music, and art. I love to show off my beautiful and sophisticated little part of the island of Newfoundland.
