This week at Norton’s Cove Studio & Café…

Our annual Feast of Saint Valentine will be going ahead next week, with tickets still available in store or in the online shop. The menu is available for pre-order, and the Lower Deck will be open for those who’d like to show up before their reservation begins and/or stay for a while longer after it ends! Get up and have a dance or just cozy up with your valentine

I’ll be printing in the studio today, and I’d love to see some of your smiling faces here for a visit! Bring your coffee and stay for a cuffer!

I’ll be starting the day with RED cards, mini-prints, and bookmarks, and then work my way through to RED-YELLOW, ORANGE, RED-BLUE, BLUE, BLUE-GREEN, GREEN, BLACK, GREY, AND METALLIC ink colours to complete what I like to call PRINTAPALOOZA: a full run of ink colours with all Norton’s Cove card, mini-print, and bookmark designs. It’ll take me most of February to get it all done, with all my other tasks thrown in the mix!

Our annual Feast of Saint Valentine will be going ahead again this month, with tickets available now in store or in the online shop. The menu has been updated, and as usual, I can’t wait to taste it all! Don’t wait until the last minute- get your table booked early to avoid disappointment. The Lower Deck will be open for those who’d like to show up before their reservation begins and/or after it ends!

I’d love to hear your suggestions for more special events between Valentine’s Day and June. Would you be interested in a Trivia Night? Or a Saint Patrick’s Day Feast? How about a Friday night dance (hearkening back to my teenage weekends at the Badger’s Quay SUF Hall) or a board game afternoon?

At the Lower Deck, I’m working on Operation Corkscrew: With the help of my trusty friend Joanne, we are cutting wine corks in half, dabbing a bit of gorilla glue on the back, and adhering each cork half to the unfinished side of a cabinet. I’ll be able to use it as a bulletin board, and it’ll add a bit of interest to the design of the room. What do you make of it? You might ask where I got all the corks? Aha! I’ve been saving them for about 20 years. And I’ve got one shopping bag full. Far less than the new 2 drink a week standard, for sure!

In the studio, I’ve completed all the Year-End paperwork (pats self of back), and now I’m gearing up for the first Printapalooza of the year. Making fresh plates to replace those that have worn out, and figuring out my print list: how many of each design do I have, in which colours, and how many do I need?

I have made some decisions about the Café’s 2023 season that I’d like to share with you. We will be reopening in June, serving our supper menu only. And yes, you can make reservations anytime in the off-season by contacting me here at the studio.

This is the last week to take advantage of these great sale prices… The sale ends when February begins! Check out the online shop to see what else is on sale!

I’ve been changing the prices of some of my older pieces that have been hanging around too long for my liking- have a look at the online shop to see what’s on sale! There are now quite a few art pieces, as well as small gift items on for half price this month.

Moving right along with year-end paperwork, I’m making good progress! There is quite a lot of sitting involved in January- and my eyes are tired of looking at screens and papers. I’m looking forward to some art happening on Saturday! The studio will be open for visitors from 10-6.

There are now quite a few art pieces, as well as small gift items on for half price. I entered the word ‘sale’ in the search bar on the website and all the sale items popped up! It’s a handy feature to find anything you’re looking for at Norton’s Cove. You can shop online or in-store, but these sale prices disappear when February arrives.

…I’m making plans for the 2023 season!

January is reserved each year for book-keeping year-end procedures and a study of what happened in the past 12 months, with a focus on what we should repeat and what we should change to make the next 12 months even better. There are applications to fill out with deadlines approaching very soon, marketing plans to implement, and tax forms to fill in. I love making plans!

And I’m planning to finish a small group of paintings that I started in November and haven’t had time to complete this month! Focussing on making new artwork this year is very important to me, as 2022 was certainly not my most productive year.

The studio will be open this week: Saturday 10am-6pm and any other time by chance or appointment. Call or text me at 536-8166 to make an appointment.

I’d love to hear from you: what did you like best about Norton’s Cove Studio & Café in 2022? What would you like to see changed?

Christmas @ Norton’s Cove

If you’re out and about in New-Wes-Valley today, the studio is open all day, until 9pm. I’ll be here working on some last minute hand crafted gifts for friends and family, and welcome you to browse the old shop shelves for a unique last minute gift for your own checklist!

The town of New-Wes-Valley is planning a fireworks display tonight over Norton’s Cove, and while we had hoped to have the Café open to serve drinks for the fireworks display, the timing isn’t suited for us as we have such a big day ahead of us tomorrow with our Tibb’s Eve event. The studio will be open though, so do drop in to get a warm!

We still have Tibb’s Eve tickets available here at the shop, and I’d really appreciate it if you can share that information with your peeps who are in the Greater Norton’s Cove Area. There are convenient social media share buttons right in the online shop if you use facebook, twitter, or pinterest. Today is the last day to buy tickets and submit your menu choices.

Happy Christmas, everyone!
Especially to the Team Norton’s Cove who are hard at work serving up suppers to groups celebrating the season this week – and getting ready for Tibb’s Eve too!
Thank you Ted, Duke, Trina, Kasie, and Matthew for making Christmas special in the Cove!

Christmas @ Norton’s Cove

The time is flying by, and I’m sooooooo not ready for the calendar to tell me there’s only a week left until Christmas! Things have been so busy here, with my new job with Norton’s Cove Marine, and still planning events for the Café, and making product to sell in the studio/shop… My days have been pretty full!
