Land at Norton’s Cove

Because I have decided against the plan to build a hotel next door as was the hope of pre-COVID times, I am selling a parcel of land that I had purchased for that project.

If you know of anyone who is interested in purchasing land to build a new home in the local area, please refer them to my Real Estate Agent’s website! The property is listed as Wesleyville, but is actually in Brookfield- both a part of the eight amalgamated communities that make up New-Wes-Valley.

And thank you to Team Norton’s Cove who are getting great new reviews online- we really appreciate those reviews on Google!

Happy Canada Day!

What a wonderful day it has been! This has been our busiest day of the year so far, with 30 visitors at the studio, and 64 people served at the Café. I’ve been hearing wonderful feedback from customers, and all feels right with the world.

I spent a wonderful couple of hours at The REACH today where there were so many happy faces- people genuinely pleased with the progress of the museum, archives, artisan marketplace, and the new exhibit by Tracy Blackwood in the art gallery… such a beautiful space made even better by beautiful smiles. So much positivity!

And then, to top it all off, the Town of New-Wes-Valley put off an impressive fireworks display right in Norton’s Cove, from the floating docks that were installed late last year by the province right where the old Brookfield wharf was.

Oh Canada! I know we’re not rated as the best country in the world, but man, it’s a pretty wonderful place that we’re living in. My little part of this country seems pretty hard to beat. And I’m very thankful every day to have been born just up the road at Brookfield Hospital as a Canadian citizen and a Newfoundlander.

This Weekend at Norton’s Cove

I am STILL printing, signing, packaging, shipping Norton’s Cove Cards, Mini-Prints, and Bookmarks all over the place.

It’s gonna be a busy weekend! I’m in the studio working away today and Saturday, and Sunday is dedicated to training at the Café, meeting up with new employees, and getting the Café back to her sparkling self, ready to reopen on Thursday. I can hardly believe that summer is about to start! And we’re going to start it off with a bang!

This Week at Norton’s Cove

I’m still packaging up product to send out to shops, and I’ve got a few more prints to pull before my orders are all full. We’ve also been updating our own displays, moved the coffee machine out of the studio, and we’re getting things ready to open up the café on the 16th! Lots to do! I can’t wait to order my first cappuccino and a hand-pie for elevenses two weeks from now! But for now, back to packaging squid!

This Week at Norton’s Cove

We are printing and packaging Norton’s Cove Cards, Mini-prints, and Bookmarks this week at the studio. Order due dates are passing us by and we’re printing into the night to get it all done! We’re working on about half of the spring orders now, and will start printing all over again once these are sent out. This year is different than most because orders were taken in April at the Craft & Gift Wholesale Show instead of in February as usual, so I normally have an extra two months to work on those orders.

Packaging all those pieces: folding cards, stamping their backs, stuffing them into bags, adding tassels to bookmarks, putting mats on mini-prints & etc., can be tedious work sometimes. I love having visitors while I’m doing that kind of work to keep me company. Please do stop in for a chat. We’re open 10-6 Wednesday to Saturday.

We’re making plans for the Café: opening dates and booking bands and that sort of thing. There’s just three weeks left until the Café is in full swing- I can hardly believe it’s almost summer already! And yes, we are taking reservations for the full season already!

This Weekend at Norton’s Cove

Can you feel summer coming? The grass turned green this past week, my crocuses are blooming, and the sun is strong even when it’s still cold outside. And of course the icebergs are here there and everywhere. This time of year, it’s fun to have a look first thing in the morning to see if any icebergs have drifted away or broken apart, or if new bergs have appeared. They are beautiful, no matter how many we see.

I’ve been doing some shop-keeping, updating displays both in the studio and the Café’s Gift Shop, and I’ll be printing late this afternoon and tomorrow. We’d love to see you here!

Mother’s Day photo-litho I made a billion years ago while a student at NSCAD University: my mom with a red rose overlaid. The tradition here was always to wear a red rose on Mother’s Day, or a white rose if your mom had already passed on.

This weekend, we’re wishing all moms out there a Happy Mother’s Day! A special shout-out to my mom, Ollie Davis, to my mother-in-law, Louise Kelloway, and to my Aunt Gwyn, who has always been like a 2nd mother to me. I love you!

This Weekend at Norton’s Cove

I’m back to my regular hours here at the Studio this weekend! I’ve finished my 8 week contract with The Town of New-Wes-Valley to help set-up The REACH, and I’m pleased to be back in the studio getting cards, mini-prints, and bookmarks printed, packaged, and sent off to all the fabulous shops that carry my products!

While I have agreed to continue to do a little work at The REACH until the arts centre is ready to open, it will be a different schedule which allows me to get back to work at Norton’s Cove.
