Let me introduce myself: I'm Janet Davis, an artist and entrepreneur living and working on the North side of Bonavista Bay, on the island of Newfoundland in Eastern Canada. There are many challenges to running a business here in my small rural hometown, and there are many wonderful benefits too. This blog is where I share some of those challenges and triumphs, and share what it's like to live in this part of the world.

This year marks a different Christmas here at home with lots of family members & friends missing from our usual festivities. But we’re all healthy, safe, and happy. And I’m very happy that none of us are alone. Because really, love is all we need, right?
Back in 2002, I hosted the first annual Norton’s Cove Christmas Party & Sale.
Simple math tells us that this would be the 17th Norton’s Cove Christmas Party & Sale, but it’s actually the 18th…
One year, on the 1st Friday of December, there was a snowstorm. I put out word to my followers on social media that the party would be postponed until Saturday night- I didn’t want my studio friends travelling on dangerous roads, and especially not in the dark. BUT people came anyways! Others had already told me they would come on Saturday night and stayed home, so we did the whole thing two nights in a row! Certainly a memorable year!
Black Friday Cyber Monday is a big deal with shoppers these days, even here in little old Newfoundland. You can read up on what BFCM is here if you’re wondering where this marketing terminology came from.
My friends over at http://www.justacard.org have come up with an alternative to Black Friday, aiming at supporting independent businesses and artisans, Indie Friday. And I’m jumping on board that bandwagon.
…so on Indie Friday, I’ll be offering up a sale on my Norton’s Cove Cards, Mini-Prints, framed Mini-Prints, and Bookmarks. Just use the code IndieFriday at the checkout to save 40% on your purchase. This sale applies both online and in-store.
New stock has just arrived from the Dark Tickle Company in gorgeous Griquet, on the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland. They make great stocking stuffers. Bundled up, they make wonderful gift bags! For the person who has everything!
