This Week at Norton’s Cove Studio & Café

This Week at Norton’s Cove Café

We had an overwhelmingly successful Feast of Saint Valentine event at the Café on the 13th & 14th. In the fall and early winter, it’s easy to feel a bit tuckered out when it comes to thinking about the café and all the work involved trying to make everything run smoothly. We want the business to provide what our customers want, but also it needs to make enough money to pay the bills and enable us to keep going. That can be pretty stressful! But this event in mid-February, when we’ve been feeling refreshed and almost ready for spring to arrive again, reminds us of how much we love what we’re doing, and how much this venue means to the people around us. Honestly, the comments coming back have been very heart-warming. And I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It really is the nourishment our business needs!
Now that we have completed the downstairs space at the Café, which we call the Lower Deck, and some of the COVID restrictions look like they’ll be relaxing soon all across the country, I’m hoping to line up a new series of Live @ the Lower Deck events. I am looking for professional performers to stand in this spotlight and entertain us. Interested artists should introduce themselves via email and include links to examples of their work.

The Feast of Saint Valentine is almost sold out! Thank you so much for such a wonderful response! Click HERE to read the menu and order your event tickets! We’ll have a full staff in house to make your evening meal a pleasure, and I will be trying out the new Lower Deck space for the first time- please do come hang with me there for a drink or two in a relaxing atmosphere with your bubble before or after your meal. We’ll be funnelling everyone through the upstairs entry- don’t forget to bring your VaxPass QR code!

I am collecting love songs for the special Valentine’s playlist- what is your favourite love song?

Mussel Heart Norton’s Cove Cards and Mini-Prints are available in the studio, the online shop, and in the Café gift-shop! Cards are $7.25 each, Minis are $14.50, and Framed Minis go for $50.

This year, we’re planning a great Feast of Saint Valentine here at Norton’s Cove Café, and you can buy your tickets in the online shop. Click HERE to read the menu and order your event tickets! Now that the Lower Deck is finished, I encourage you to enjoy that space with a drink while you wait for your reservation, or after you’ve finished your meal but don’t want to go home yet!

With current COVID-19 restrictions
~we are limited to 34.5 people (including staff) in the building at a time
~we need to physically distance ourselves from other bubbles by at least 6 feet
~we all need to wear a mask when we are not seated/eating, and
~we need to show that we are vaccinated upon entry
Nothing to it!

The Feast of Saint Valentine will take place over two dates: February 13th & 14th! When you click to buy your tickets, you’ll get to choose a date and time. Don’t forget to make sure you have the right number of tickets chosen before you check out! And yes, you can have your meal as take-out if that suits your needs!

A little reminder from me (and 7xFred) that all apparel is on sale this month! The discount code 2022 only works if you subscribe to our monthly eNewsletter though.

Valentine’s Day is less than a month away- which leaves plenty of time to order that special card, and purchase your Feast of Saint Valentine event tickets through our online shop, or in-person (or over the phone) at the Studio.

Mussel Heart is available as a card or a mini-print.
Does your sweetheart love the seaside? Mine does!

I’m trying out a new reservation system for this event, where you can pick an available time and date right on the order page. Click HERE to read the menu and order your event tickets! I blinked, and it’s December! Cue the bells, candy canes, and carols! I love Christmas. And on Friday, TOMORROW, I’ll be celebrating our 20th annual Christmas Party & Sale here in the studio. 20th! We didn’t do a party last year due to- you know- but there was one year when we had two parties, so I’m sticking to 20!

You’re invited to our 20th Annual
Christmas Party & Sale!
Friday, December 3rd, starting at 7pm

We’ll have festive music, snacks, drinks, prizes, and at least 25% off your purchase (excepting event tickets, gift cards, and workshop fees). It’s a great time for you to show your love for Newfoundland made gifts, and in plenty of time to ship them to your friends and family all over Canada.

And as a real treat for all of us, Chrys Hogan’s Sweet & Savoury Baked Goods

Studio & Shop Update

Since my return from my most successful Christmas Craft Fair ever, I have been getting my beautiful shop tidied up, getting new framed pieces up on the wall, and gathering information for a new business project that I’m working on (more on that later). I’m getting the shop dressed up for Christmas (my favourite time of the year), and then it’ll be time to get at more printing (Christmas cards are running low) and back to making paintings.

My mom-in-law gave me a nutcracker from a downsizing move, and he has found a job at Norton’s Cove Studio this Christmas shopping season as a toque model.

I’d love for you to visit the studio, and I’m offering free coffee while you shop handmade. Hate the hustle and bustle of shopping in the big stores? Then stop in for a calm, relaxing shopping experience with a latté macchiato to warm your hands and the knowledge that you are supporting local, handmade, and independent! Every little purchase makes a big difference to small shops like mine. And of course, if you can’t get here in person, the online shop is open 24-7. If you have any questions, please just send me a note or give me a call.

Lots of products in the shop from the Dark Tickle, also Rocks & Roots Co., Kate Fudge Art, cook-books, Velvet Snow jewellery, Foggy Island Candles, make for great stocking stuffers and gifts.

Norton’s Cove Studio Estimated Hours of Operation: This is just a guideline of our usual hours- if you’re planning to visit from afar, please call ahead so that we don’t miss your visit! Sometimes I need to be elsewhere! And more often than not, I’m in the studio longer hours than listed! If the open sign is out, come on in, no matter what time it is 😉
