Norton’s Cove Studio 2002ish

This week at Norton’s Cove Studio & CafĂ©

Thank you to those of you who came out for our Tibb’s Eve Dinner, even though we had to trim the event of its normal dance and performance by my brother Mick. My Norton’s Cove staff did a terrific job of feeding & watering us (yes, I got to enjoy the meal instead of serving it!), and I’m happy that we didn’t cancel the whole darn thing. It was a lovely & safe evening out with friends and family. Fingers crossed that next year will be back to normal!

My next biggest jobs are in the office. Planning out the whole new year ahead of us will take some reviewing of last year, lots of notes and charts and coffee drunk. I’m looking forward to it! I made a lot of mistakes this year, I think, and I want to make sure that I don’t make them all again next year. Timing is everything! And then there’s the year end financial documents that need to be filed with the government. Sounds awful, but in fact, I rather like doing that work each year.

I’ll be in and out of the studio and office at no set hours for the next few days, but will start with regular hours again after Old Christmas Day. Until then, I hope you’re enjoying the twelve days of Christmas, and that you don’t have a house full of calling birds, French hens, turtle-doves and partridges. I guess the golden rings might be alright! xo

On Monday, I spent the day puttering around at the CafĂ© & Lower Deck, doing a few repairs, arranging, and cleaning. I love the way the space is looking! It’s very similar to the upstairs CafĂ©, but the Lower Deck really is taking on a feel of its own. We have been reusing some pieces of woodwork from the Anglican Church that was removed from Pool’s Island last year, and they’re really lending some warmth to the space. Friendly little seating arrangements for bubbles of people to enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of tea. I’m really looking forward to opening the doors to the public!

The fall colours in Norton’s Cove are so vibrant right now, it’s a pity these tables at Norton’s Cove CafĂ© aren’t full of people this time of year. One of these days, I hope that we can stay open all year with success.

Our Annual Tibb’s Eve Dinner & Dance tickets have started to sell to those who have attended before- make sure you don’t miss your opportunity- get your tickets before they sell out!

We love our tee shirts and and hoodies branded with our Norton’s Cove logo! We have a new product hitting the shelves and online store very soon, in cahoots with Star Creations!

Come on over to Norton’s Cove Studio to get your cappuccino fix in the off-season. Bring your own mug if you’d like to take your americano or cafĂ© lattĂ© to go- as an effort to cut down on the amount of garbage we produce. You can pick up your favourite jams, sauces, and salts too.

Excursions

11 degrees celcius on October 19th at Newtown. Calm with a gentle fog on the water, and the sun starting to set. Amazing, considering that a week or so ago we took the same little trail and had our breath taken away with a cold and fierce wind on this same little walking trail. I can’t even imagine what it’s like to live in a place where the weather doesn’t change drastically from day to day. Winds, tides, and whether or not we see the sun is a topic for discussion all the time here in Newfoundland.
