Hello from gorgeous Norton’s Cove!

This week, much to our disappointment, will be our last week of regular hours at the Café.  Business has dropped off considerably in the past couple of weeks, and it no longer makes financial cents (misspelled for the benefit of Mr. Wiley) to remain open. 

We will certainly have events throughout the off-season, so stay tuned  to our website for special happenings!  For now, our last day of regular business, 10am-8pm, will be Saturday, September 21st.  

I want to say an enormous THANK YOU to my wonderful staff, to our regular customers, and all visitors from all corners of the earth that we’ve had the pleasure to serve and chat with.  Norton’s Cove is growing, and that is largely due to people like YOU for sharing your good experiences here at Norton’s Cove.  Thank you.  Thank you.  Thank you.  I look forward to growing even more next season!

Special thanks this year go to Richard Leach who played piano at the Café every Thursday night since we opened in May. We love you Richard, you’re a star, and you made our Thursday nights shine!

Our hours are 10am to 8pm daily (except Wednesdays) and we recommend that you call for a reservation when times are busy (July & August are busy!) so that we can guarantee you a place to sit!  I don’t like turning people away, but we have had to do that several times.  The number to call to make a reservation is: 709-536-2633.  

We’re starting the week with…
French Onion Soup (V, GF*)  $4 cup; $6 bowl
Pork Ball Soup (GF)  $6 cup; $8 bowl

Chrys continues to bake us gorgeous treats; she changes things up each day, so pop in to see what’s new!  Right now, we have: brownies with rum & butter icing, hand pies, chocolate layer cake with caramel buttercream icing & toasted pecans, ginger cookies, s’mores scones, chocolate biscotti, and fudge in addition to our regular dessert menu.

Our young servers are gone back to the city to attend university classes next week, and Chrys and Duke will be helping me to serve you here at the café.  As August comes to a close this week, remember that we still have three more weeks of summer!  And the café will still be open to enjoy until Thanksgiving weekend.

Chrys continues to bake us gorgeous treats; she changes things up each day, so pop in to see what’s new!  Right now, we have: brownies with almond buttercream icing, hand pies, strawberry rhubarb tarts, Chocolate layer cake with mint buttercream icing, chocolate peanut butter cookies, ginger cookies, s’mores scones, chocolate biscotti, NEW fudge (!!!) and Amanda’s banana nut muffins in addition to our regular dessert menu.

The big news is that we now have COD on the menu again!  It’s been difficult to find, but we have some, and I am pleased to put our fish & chippies back on the lunch menu, and our pan fried cod back on the supper menu today!

At the Café

Good morning from Norton’s Cove Café!  I’m writing this post from a comfortable chair in the café, as I am on duty as a server today in Jacob’s absence.  I’m looking forward to a full day of meeting new people, greeting old friends, and bringing all the delightful products of our kitchen to hungry patrons!
